advise是动词，表示建议时，通常为及物动词，若其后的宾语是动词，一般不能是不定式，应是动名词。advise后面不能直接跟不定式，但是可接不定式的复合结构。advise后接不定式复合结构的时候，要用被动语态形式。如果advise后面接that从句，一般要用虚拟语气（should v.）。
