Last week, the governor of West-Flanders, Carl Decaluwé, returned to China once more. This visit was a little different from his previous one, however, because he was specifically here for a school trip organized by VIVES University of Applied Sciences. VIVES, one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Flanders, organizes a yearly school trip for bachelor students from a wide range of majors. The primary goal of the trip is to introduce the students to VIVES’ partner schools in China and help them decide whether to go on an exchange year in their last year. Of course, this trip also aims to introduce the students to China and broaden their horizons. This year, 124 students took part in the school trip, which mainly focused on academia, tourism, and business across the cities of Ningbo, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Beijing. The students visited VIVES’ partner schools, such as Ningbo Foreign Affairs School, Hangzhou Normal University, Zhejiang University, and Zhejiang International Studies University, where student volunteers kindly showed them around. The students didn’t spend all their time on campuses. They also got a taste of the local history and culture, visiting many famous scenic spots - from the Westlake in Hangzhou to the Forbidden City in Beijing. In addition to this busy schedule, the students also had the opportunity to visit Belgian companies and learn about their activities in China. From March 18 to 20, more than 100 teachers and students from VIVES University of Applied Sciences in Belgium came to Hangzhou to get a close understanding of Hangzhou's humanities and geography, social landscape, business environment, and entered the campus of Hangzhou Normal University to participate in interactive courses and experience traditional culture such as martial arts and calligraphy. Located in West Flanders, Belgium, VIVES University signed a memorandum of understanding with Hangzhou Normal University in 2014. Over the years, the two universities have strengthened international exchanges and cooperation through online courses and online exchange activities during the International Week, and dispatching students for exchange and study. This event is the offline exchange activity with the largest number of participating students since the cooperation between the two universities began in 2014, and for most of the Belgian students it was their first time coming to China. "I had never been to China before and it was a great experience. Whether it's doing business or making friends, I think the most important thing is to keep friendly relationships and build connections, which is what I really learned in China." Emma Devos, a student of VIVES University, said after listening to the entrepreneurial sharing of the Hangzhou Normal University students. 链接:https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/GBM9I4-nSewapooSvMVpHA
